Canadian falling snow experts have unveiled a new early warning system for avalanches. I made some tweaks to their design.

My latest Kerned Event, about the bizarre popularity of FarmVille on Facebook. Me, I'm holding out for a game where I can annoy people by pretending to operate a virtual snow plow. Perhaps with a mafia or werewolf theme.

I couldn't decide on a song to lay over top of my Antarctica videos, so instead I used sound clips from The Shawshank Redemption. Because nothing says Antarctica like penguins and the disembodied voice of Morgan Freeman. Enjoy!

Behind this mysterious page is a creative wonderland where people share glimpses of works in progress. Dribbble is a creative huddle hilariously themed with basketball metaphors, and easily my new favorite hideout on the web. The site is in beta (pre-season, even) but I had the good fortune to be drafted by my friend Grant (aka Splorp). Which is great, because otherwise I probably would have ended up playing for some obscure farm team website in Moosejaw.

Constant readers might know that I participate in a weekly typographic showcase at Veer called Kerned Events, where we create type samples inspired by current event headlines. My turn is on Wednesdays. From now on, I'll be simul-posting mine here every week, but only if they're good. If they're not good, I'll just sit in a corner and cry and eat crackers.

This week I chose the article Doomsday Clock Moved Back One Minute. I'ts good news, if you ignore that the harbinger timepiece is still saying we are minutes from global annhilation. And for bonus fun-points, I chose three fonts that pun on the theme: Appointment With Danger & Anytime Now by Device and Recovery by TypeTrust.

Being a hobo is hard work (I imagine) but so is going to the office everyday. That's why fellow hobologist Darcy Whiteside and I have devised the Office Worker Hobo Code, to help you help each other. Arm yourself with a Sharpie and Post-Its, then tag areas of your office to share your knowledge.

I'm still writing, sorting photos, and editing video from the expedition, but I hope to have a trip debrief up soon.
